Exhibition of contemporary commissions and historic garments related to women’s history during the First World War. It featured new commissions by Vivienne Westwood, Roksanda Illincic, Emilia Wickstead, Holly Fulton and JJS Lee, and by ShowSTUDIO. Students from UK universities also exhibited original designs produced in response to the theme “Restriction & Release”. The exhibition was organised and hosted by Manchester Art Gallery and subsequently toured to The Civic Barnsley, Freedom Festival Hull, The Belfast International Festival and the National Memorial Arboretum.

A publication to accompany the exhibition was published. Designed by Axis Design; written and edited by Jenna Rossi-Camus, Natasha Howes, Darrell Vydelingum and Miles Lambert. Photography by Jez Tozer with styling by Kim Howells and Layla Sailor.
